Christos Tsagkaris: All roads lead to Rome to discuss global action for food, health and climate

Christos Tsagkaris shared a post on LinkedIn:

”All roads lead to Rome to discuss global action for food, health and climate.

A journey that started more than a year ago in India, where I had the chance to serve as the EU Health Delegate for the G20 Youth Summit took us to the World Food Forum of the United Nations in Rome. We discussed how youth recommendations included in the G7 and G20 summits of the last two years connect food and agriculture with health, climate change, poverty and inequality. Isabell Steidel, Camilla Melis, Michela Pellegatta, Pablo Russo and I narrated how we got involved with the youth delegations of G20 and G7 and had a thoughtful and vibrant exchange with attendees including but not limited to Erica Martinelli, Beatrice Esposto.

Closing the session we committed to put together a blueprint of youth involvement in the crossroads of human and planetary health and sustainable food and agriculture – those interested let us know.

We also had a Y20 reunion with Parneet Kaur in her capacity as founder of Poetry for Planet, a movement with a bold vision for poetry as a means of transforming voices of underserved communities in agency for climate justice. We discussed how we can bring this vision to the intersection of climate change with major health challenges including but not limited to cancer and substance use. Watch this space.

Between sessions I had the pleasure of meeting Audrey Wong in person almost 3 years after the Students Against COVID, Students Against COVID Global Health Summer School – time flies and so does the discussion on all things from global health advocacy to common pitfalls prescribing medications.

Andrea Causio from the WHO Regional Office for Europe, EVID Action and Bettina Camara from Beyond Sciences Initiative (BSI) were kind enough to join me exploring ancient Rome and recollecting our work and memories.

We missed Hannah Koch thanks to whose and Isabell S.’s effort we had the chance to deliver a side event in the WFF – FAO at the first place.

Arrivederci!”
