Amb. Grace B. Charrier: Princess Kate’s cancer diagnosis has hit me on all levels…Nothing beats the power of community
Amb. Grace B. Charrier, Advisor at Merck, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Princess Kate’s cancer diagnosis has hit me on all levels…
…and I cannot even begin to imagine her putting that information across to her children, let alone processing it.
To be honest, I do not believe she has really started processing her cancer diagnosis at all. She is just going through the motion and doing what she must by adhering to strict doctor’s orders and enjoying her children any which way she can, and as best as she can.
Having been there, it is not the most palatable information to share with our children, especially as cancer is synonymous with end of life but thankfully, this is not the case anymore because, we continue to underscore self advocacy, cancer awareness, and equitable access to Multicancer screenings.
Now, more than ever, are breakthroughs in cancer research and clinical trials because of the CTA (call to action) for increase in funding and insurance coverage for Biomarker testing. We harp on early detection and mental resilience, having tight, caregiving support systems and solid peer-support groups.
Yes. Nothing beats the power of community.
It is why I am moved to reshare this nugget-filled episode on how to effectively communicate with a child about a parent’s cancer diagnosis with Migdalia Torres, my amazing guest who breaks it down.
The link to the episode is in the comments.
Sending prayers to all who find themselves in this situation.”
