Guillermo Chantada: ICCD is an insightful moment for all people related to pediatric cancer
Guillermo Chantada, President of SIOP, recently shared a post by the International Society of Paediatric Oncology – SIOP on LinkedIn and added:
“ICCD is an insightful moment for all people related to pediatric cancer. For us, the caregivers it is a moment when we try to make visible childhood cancer in civil society but also, personally at this moment, many children and adolescents I treated come to my memory. From moments of joy like the one I had when my very first patient went to a conference I gave after 25 years to say thanks, also I remember others that everybody of us thought they would not be cured it and they did, others that were cured and despite the disabilities have a happy life and made me remember that they could climb a mountain or swim at the Para-Olympics and sadly others who despite our efforts could not be cured. ICCD is a moment to think about all of them, our reason to work every day. I hope there will be a day when we can cure them all.”
