David Fajgenbaum: The power of taking things one day at a time
David Fajgenbaum, physician-scientist at the University of Pennsylvania, shared a post on X/Twitter:
“At 25 years old, I thought my days were numbered…
One of the crucial lessons I learned while fighting for my life was the power of taking things one day at a time.
However, in my case, it ended up being one breath at a time because I was in so much pain.
If you had told me that I would have to endure knife-like pain for six months in the ICU, I don’t think I could have made it.
But what I could do was endure an hour of pain, and that mindset helped me get through it.
Whether you are fighting a rare disease, being let go from your job, or facing any other hardship, remember to focus on taking things day by day because things will get better!
I would love to hear in the comments how you get through tough times.”
