Akshay Sharma: Who was poking the sleeping bears?
Akshay Sharma, Instructor in the Department of Bone Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy, shared a post by Science Magazine on X/Twitter:
“Really cool article, but the fact that I am most interested in is – who was poking the sleeping bears ? Someone had to do venipunctures and collect blood from hibernating bears for this study”
Quoting Science Magazine‘s post:
“Hibernating brown bears rarely suffer from blood clots despite 6 months of immobilization. A Science study reveals a factor that appears to protect the animals against this immobility-associated thrombosis.”
