Vicki Durston: BCNA’s annual fun run in Melbourne
Vicki Durston, Director of Policy, Advocacy and Support Services at Breast Cancer Network Australia, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Today was BCNA’s annual fun run held in Melbourne.
Approximately 9000 participants joined us either running or walking to raise money for BCNA.
Im so proud of my nephew Will Durston for running the half marathon and beautiful Ella for her awesome efforts also running a half marathon.
A big shoutout to my friend Julie for joining me on the walk, and to our dedicated staff and volunteers who give so much of themselves to support today.
One of the most touching moments was hearing a tribute from a young girl for her mum, who died of breast cancer just two weeks ago.
It was also heartwarming to connect with clinicians and patients, some of whom were just out of the hospital, and those living with metastatic breast cancer sharing their story and connecting with others.
We missed those who have supported us like June Gameau and Peta Murphy who are no longer with us. Thank you to their friends and family there today.
A special thanks to our partners at Carman’s for their support particularly founder Carolyn Creswell and BCNA founder Lyn Swinburne.
A little behind the scenes video.”
