We are honored to feature Dr. Catherine Metayer, a global leader in childhood cancer research, in this special episode of the PAPERI Bright Minds Series – premiering on International Childhood Cancer Day (February 15, 2025).

Dr. Catherine Metayer is:

A Professor at UC Berkeley, School of Public Health
Director of CIRCLE (Center for Integrative Research on Childhood Leukemia and the Environment)
Former Chair of the Childhood Leukemia International Consortium (CLIC)

Her pioneering research explores genetic and environmental risk factors for childhood leukemia, testicular cancer, and other early-onset solid tumors – shedding light on how chemical exposures, diet, and genetic predisposition influence cancer development.

In this session, we discuss:

The role of genetics and environmental exposures in childhood leukemia
How chemicals, diet, and radiation contribute to cancer risk
The importance of global collaboration in fighting childhood cancer
The future of cancer prevention and treatment
