Sachin H. Jain: Are Health Insurers Knights, Knaves, or Pawns?
Sachin H. Jain, President and CEO of SCAN Group, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Following the troubling public reaction to the tragic, unforgivable murder of Brian Thompson, the health insurance industry deeply needs to reflect on how it is perceived by the American public and why.
In my latest Forbes blog, I build on my previous articles with the same theme and ask: Are Health Insurers Knights, Knaves, or Pawns?
The modern health insurer is regarded as either a knave or a pawn and is seldom regarded as a knight.
But the evidence that has led to distrust of health insurers does not apply universally and some companies in particular many not-for-profit ones still aim to serve people communities.
How can society be sure not to undermine those motivated by doing the right thing while guarding against those motivated purely by self-interest and profit?
