Sally Wolf: How My Brother’s Caregiving Skills Enhance His Role as CEO
Sally Wolf, CEO & Founder of LightWorks, posted the following on LinkedIn:
“Some of my brother’s CEO training is at my bedside.
I don’t just mean the moments he has a laptop in a hospital waiting room, although we have plenty of those.
But beyond that, his caregiver skills support his CEO role.
For example:
- Changing bandages sharpens attention to detail.
- Intaking ongoing new info hones synthesizing skills.
- Supporting my anxiety requires honoring full wellbeing.
To name just a few.
There is so much more than we see on LinkedIn. Including that today is Michael Wolf’s birthday.
Celebrating this amazing human, I’m reminded:
- how multi-faceted we all are
- how much more people juggle than we know
- how many chosen responsibilities go broadly unseen
While patient’ing is hard, Michael makes it much easier.
By juggling competing demands gracefully and calmly.
By asking thoughtful questions & advising on decisions.
By being slightly more objective but still caring so much.
He does this for me as we navigate cancerland.
And he also does a version of ALL these things at work, as CEO of ResortPass. (Minus literal bandage changes, though he does manage band-aid moments!)
ResortPass delivers happiness to millions of consumers by enabling day access to hotel amenities.
And in a beautiful full circle kind of way, as Michael has shared in some user feedback, occasionally the pool or spa days are celebrating completing cancer treatments.
Our lives are rarely fully known, even to those who see us daily. But the more we take the time to not only understand, but also value, the versatility of skills built outside the office, the better we can all thrive.
Wishing my incredible brother the best birthday.
In Michael’s honor, please share how a favorite life skill honed with family or friends empowers you at work, too.
