Natalia Baran: I had great pleasure to attend the 13th Annual Metabolism in Cancer Symposium
Natalia Baran shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I had great pleasure to attend today the 13th Annual Metabolism in Cancer Symposium organized by Department of Cancer Systems Imaging at MD Anderson Cancer Center, co-chaired by Prof. Pratip Bhattacharya and Prof. David Piwnica-Worms.
It was amazing opportunity not only to listen to cutting-edge research about metabolism of cancer cells and immune cells, metabolic targeting, metabolic imaging, but also to understand how metabolism can impact microenvironment of tumors or diminish efficacy of CAR-therapy.
The effort to understand how metabolically tumors resist cancer treatment and what approaches can be utilized to address it, is greatly moving forward, yet there is still a lot to investigate and learn…so I am already looking forward to the next year.”

Dr. Natalia Baran, Assistant Professor in the Department of Leukemia, MD Anderson Cancer Center, focuses on translational research exploring metabolic vulnerabilities and reprogramming in acute myeloid and lymphoblastic leukemias. Her work aims to overcome drug resistance and enhance anti-leukemic responses by modulating the metabolic environment, leading to new therapeutic approaches to eradicate leukemic cells.
