Jill Feldman: The most patient-centered care I’ve seen
Jill Feldman posted on X:
“For my presentation at WCLC24, I shared my friend JJ’s story—highlighting the most patient-centered care I’ve seen (see pics).
I learned this morning that 2 additional tumors were found, changing the treatment plan. To further emphasize how communication can have a profound impact on a patient/family experience, JJ shared the following:
‘The surgeon called and sent a video link to discuss things face-to-face. She used the original notes (below)to explain the new risks but stressed that we could save this breast. She told me to take time to think about it. I said I was so sorry to cry but didn’t need time – I knew this was best, but I was just sad’. JJ then said, ‘I am so thankful for her kindness and the time to educate me and help me make the best/right choice for me/my family.’
Patients/families want to know that the person caring for them also cares ABOUT them!”
