Catherine Mwaba: Serving on the AORTIC Council as VP of Southern Africa is a privilege
Catherine Mwaba, Head of the Radiation and Clinical Oncology Section at Cancer Diseases Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Serving on the AORTIC Council as VP of Southern Africa is a privilege.
UNC Project Malawi Cancer Program, UNC Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases and UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, in collaboration with the Malawi Ministry of Health, organised the 6th Malawi Cancer Symposium, whose theme was ‘Close the Care Gap, recognise the power of working together in the fight against cancer.’
The 6th Malawi Cancer Symposium was a testament to the power of collaboration. This well-organized, jam-packed two-day event was not just about sharing knowledge and forging partnerships, but also about the active engagement of the attendees.
The proceedings, which included keynote addresses from AORTIC, delivered by Dr. Catherine Mwaba, VP of AORTIC Council, Southern Africa, and Dr. Leo Masamba, a seasoned clinical Oncologist from QECC in Blantyre, were enriched by the participation of all.
AORTIC is well positioned to lead high level advocacy for cancer control in Africa. Experts in Oncology and affliated fields should join AORTIC.
To echo the symposium theme there’s power in working together in the fight against cancer.”
Miriam Mutebi shared this post, adding:
“It’s great to see our VP of Southern Africa leading the way in closing the cancer care gap, following up on my post yesterday about the role of VPs in Cancer Care in Africa (https://lnkd.in/dSxGFsp4).
Incredibly proud of our Keynote Speaker at the 6th Malawi Cancer Symposium. Thank you Catherine Mwaba for flying the AORTIC – Africa flag at this key meeting.”
