Amb. Grace B. Charrier: Without cancer research and prevention, I would not be alive today.

Amb. Grace B. Charrier, recently shared on LinkedIn:

“As ACT Lead and Legislative Ambassador for American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network of New York (ACSCAN), we were at the Capitol, Washington D.C. recently to push for critical cancer policies to be enacted into law. Our Congress Members have been amazing in every way!

We are asking Congress to ensure:

-The highest possible increases in funding for cancer research and cancer prevention for National Institutes of Health – NiH Grants and Fundings and National Cancer Institute.
Without cancer research and prevention, I would not be alive today.

-The enactment of Multicancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act (MCED). Everyone deserves equitable access to early screening for cancer. Screening for multiple kinds of cancers through a simple blood test can help detect a variety of cancers early. This can mean more treatment options, better outcomes for cancer patients, and less expenses.

-Prostate-specific Antigen Screening for High-risk Insured Men Act (PSA Screening for HIM Act)
The PSA For HIM Act would remove a significant barrier that prevents many Black men and others at high risk for prostate cancer (family history) from getting the care they need to diagnose it at its earlier, most treatable stages, making them more likely to survive a diagnosis.

When detected early, a person with prostate cancer is much more likely to survive the disease. It is why we need legislation like the PSA For HIM Act because it would remove out-of-pocket costs for those at high risk of Prostate Cancer.

We are ending cancer as we know it for everyone!

It was such an honor to meet with an outstanding leader, powerful orator, and fellow cancer survivor, U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin, Maryland, amongst many other members of Congress!  More to come!”
