Rajkumar Venkatramani: I Got Rejected, and It Was the Best Thing That Happened to Me
Rajkumar Venkatramani, Founder and Principal at shared a post on LinkedIn:
”I Got Rejected, and It Was the Best Thing That Happened to Me.
My first year of training in the USA was tough; I faced constant criticism. The senior doctor I worked under doubted my knowledge.
Cultural differences played a role. In India, where I’m from, you don’t speak up in front of a senior person. In the U.S., being vocal and assertive is important, and I was still adjusting.
The doctor specialized in blood clots, and I hoped he would mentor me. But he said no, which felt like a major setback.
Instead of giving up, I shifted my focus to pediatric oncology. This wasn’t just a different specialty; it changed my career direction.
Pediatric oncology is challenging, with rare cancers and few established treatments. I embraced the challenge and worked hard to become an expert.
Now, I’m a leader in treating rare pediatric cancers, with people seeking my advice globally.
The lesson? Life has bigger plans for us—be patient and see beyond setbacks. Rejection is a setup for a comeback; find the strength to face it.
This approach doesn’t make life easier, but it promises a fulfilling journey.
Continuous growth and unexpected opportunities await. Are you up for that?
P.S. What is your rejection story?”
