Carole Hassoun։ One-year anniversary of the launch of Lebanon’s first National Cancer Control Plan

“July 2024 marks the one-year anniversary of the launch of Lebanon’s first National Cancer Control Plan (NCCP).

Reflecting on this milestone, I am honored to have served as a plan reviewer and been appointed as a member of the NCCP Implementation advisory committee, representing the Lebanon Pharma Group and Roche, and collaborating with key stakeholders in cancer care in Lebanon.

The progress made so far within the plan is encouraging, and it instills confidence in the advancements of cancer care for patients and survivors. This progress was shared during the annual review of the NCCP on July 10 in the presence of H.E. Prime Minister Najib Mikati and H.E. Minister of Public Health Dr. Firass Abiad.

I firmly believe that the NCCP plan, complemented by a robust Universal Health Coverage law encompassing non-communicable diseases (NCD), particularly cancer care, and establishing a sustainable domestic financing model, will form the bedrock for addressing inequities in cancer care.

This holistic approach will promote broader access to quality care, ultimately enabling more individuals to live longer, healthier lives.
