Max Bronstein: The path to progress in public policy is often long, winding, and at times, completely unpredictable
Max Bronstein, Executive Director of Government Affairs and Patient Advocacy at Crinetics Pharmaceuticals, recently shared on LinkedIn:
“A decade ago, I was part of a team of advocates at the EveryLife Foundation for Rare Diseases fighting to pass legislation to incentivize repurposing of drugs for new, rare disease indications so that more patients would have a chance to access life-saving FDA-approved medicines. That legislation (the OPEN ACT) passed the House but didn’t survive the Senate, unfortunately. Fast forward to 2021, when I was part of a team of extraordinary public servants at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, where we launched a brand new federal agency Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) in less than two years. In case you missed it, ARPA-H just announced a HUGE investment in rare disease and repurposing. This is a long-winded way of saying CONGRATULATIONS to the Every Cure team and to remind folks that the path to progress in public policy is often long, winding, and at times, completely unpredictable. So excited to see what the future holds.”
