What is the aim of the Peer Visit to the Medical University of Vienna?

The aim is to gain deeper and valuable insights into how in this hospital long-term follow-up (LTFU) care is organized, who is involved in the LTFU care and how healthcare professionals are educated.

Furthermore we took a close look at how childhood, adolescent and young adult (CAYA) cancer survivors are informed about their treatment history, late effects and to what extent personalized care is provided to CAYA cancer survivors. 🤓 The main topics during the Peer Visit were: LTFU & transition

During day 1 of the Peer Visit the following topics regarding LTFU care were covered:

1. Organization of LTFU care in childhood, adolescence and adulthood
2. Who is involved in LTFU care
3. Training and education of LTFU-health care professionals
4. LTFU care content
5. Personalized care and shared decision making
6. Information provided to CAYA cancer survivors

During day 2 of the Peer Visit the following topics regarding ‘transition’ were be covered:

1. Organization of care (patient pathways, multidisciplinary team personalised care and shared decision making, resources, education health care, professionals)
2. Content of care (mental health & psychosocial support, lifestyle & self management, education & employment, insurance, finances, legal assistance, fertility and sexual health)
