Zhiheng Xu: It’s not just about how much statistics you know

Zhiheng Xu, President of FDA Statistical Association, made the following post on LinkedIn:

“As a statistical reviewer at FDA, I’ve come to realize that it’s not just about how much statistics you know; it is more about how much you can make others understand your statistics.

What truly matters is your ability to effectively communicate those statistical insights to your review team, and to the sponsors.

This realization prompted me to initiate the “Improve Statistical Communication” panel series earlier this year when I became the president of FDA Statistical Association (FDASA), one of the world’s largest statistical organizations by a single employer.

As my one-year term as FDASA president concludes this December, I hope my efforts have left a positive impact on our members.

After all, statistical communication— the skill to express our statistical comments clearly and effectively— is key to our success.
