Ketan Kulkarni: Remembering Portuguese novelist and journalist José Saramago

Ketan Kulkarni, Associate Professor at Dalhousie University, recently shared on LinkedIn:

“Have you ever felt like an outlier?
Have you ever had to face challenges?
Have you ever had to explore the unknown?
Have you ever had to trust your gut?

With no help or guidance except curiosity and the will to learn, my taste for reading developed and was refined.

Despite his poor background, Saramago learned to read and write at an early age. He was a lifelong learner who was everything from a mechanic at a car repair shop to a journalist at different points in his life.

His writings are known for their blend of imagination, compassion, and irony. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1998.

So many life lessons from this amazing man!

And this resonates so much with SOAR. early on SOAR had to abandon what was familiar to him and explore the unknown.
