Carmen Uscatu: No one can accomplish anything of significance alone

Carmen Uscatu, Founder and President of Give Life, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“No one can accomplish anything of significance alone.

The Master’s in Global Child Health program that I am currently pursuing at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital helps us advance our mission. It supports Dăruiește Viață, in elevating the project with the hospital to the next level.

We Build A Hospital, now We Build A Medical Campus encompasses people, children, families, doctors, nurses, administrative and technical staff, donors, sponsors, and the team at Dăruiește Viața. It also involves the Ministry of Health, the Romanian Government, politicians, and policies.

It represents Romania and each individual who believes in leaving a better world during their time on earth. This hospital signifies construction and equipment, as well as a change that has been collectively embraced. This change will be brought about through collaboration.

Alongside those near us and those seemingly distant but part of the same mission: to enhance the survival rate in childhood cancer through research, collaboration, and the enhancement of medical care.

The Master’s program provides me and, in this way, us access to global achievements for children with cancer.

It enables the provision of training to medical staff, enhancement of medical care quality, and the offering of deficient services in Romania: palliative care, pain therapy, procedures, protocols, and clinical research.

Since the collaboration between Dăruiește Viață and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – ALSAC and Prinses Máxima Centrum voor kinderoncologie began, doctors have gained access to fellowships and observerships in the two hospitals, international tumor boards, mentors, conferences, molecular analyses, and collaboration for the development of protocols and operational procedures.

These actions are already in progress at Marie Curie, and the results will be seen in the coming years.

The master’s thesis I have chosen focuses on comprehensive care in the treatment of childhood cancer in Romania. The upcoming year will involve working on this project, leading to the development of a project funded by St. Jude for implementation.

Collaboration is pivotal, and I express my gratitude for the support received as a country. This immense opportunity is acknowledged, resulting from a collective effort that has brought everyone to this point.

One thing is certain: nothing will hinder the continuation of our efforts.

Going global, you are not alone.”
