“I am Dr. Nicole Twyman Rochester. I am the 3rd of 5 children. My mother passed away at the tender age of 49 from chronic myelogenous leukemia. I was a 2nd year medical student and my oldest daughter was 2 months old. My father passed away at the age of 69. He had multiple chronic diseases, including diabetes, end stage renal disease, and vascular dementia. My two older sisters and I helped to care for him during the last 3 years of his life. That caregiving journey led to a personal and professional transformation and the creation of Your GPS Doc.

I am the proud mother of two beautiful, bright, caring young adult daughters. I have learned more raising them than from all of my years of school combined. Our world will be better because of their generation.

I have wanted to be a physician since the age of 8 and knew I would be a pediatrician.  I used to read the Medical Encyclopedia in our home for FUN.

I received my B.A. in Biology from Johns Hopkins University and my M.D. from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. I completed my pediatric residency at Children’s National Medical Center.

I love music, reading, chocolate, seafood, ice cream, beaches, my family, and Jesus Christ.

I am a rules follower AND I also think outside of the box. I believe that EVERYONE deserves high-quality medical care and I am committed to using my voice to uplift patients, family caregivers, and marginalized and minoritized communities.

My company was founded in 2017 to help patients and family caregivers understand and navigate the complicated healthcare system. We have expanded and now provide a roadmap for healthcare organizations committed to providing equitable, patient- and family-centered healthcare through our riveting presentations, workshops, and customized consulting services. We also coach physicians who want to pursue health advocacy as a career or side gig.
