“As we celebrate the Class of 2024, we honor and remember those who are no longer with us. Today, we want to take a moment to pay tribute to Abby, a brave and beautiful soul who should be graduating alongside her peers.
“Our Abby should be graduating high school with her senior class but instead she is watching from heaven. Abby was a proud Kellam Knight her 9th grade year. She started 10th grade in surgery and passed away at age 15, on October 19, 2021.
Thank you to the principal for mentioning her in your speech and reading her name with the graduates. That meant a lot to our family. Abby lived 11 years beyond her initial cancer diagnosis because of the thousands of medical professionals of all types, friends, family, strangers that helped, loved and prayed.
We are so thankful. Childhood cancer research saved her time and time again but couldn’t keep up. The side effects from her treatment that saved her life, ultimately took her life.
We can do better. We must do better for our future. Remembering Abby & all angels, today and every day. Congrats Class of 2024, we are truly so proud of you all. Please carry Abby with you in your hearts, Abby is forever.” – Patty Furco, Abby’s mom.
