“May 28th marks the day when people worldwide demonstrate their support for those with blood cancer.
Be a stem cell donor and make a difference!
World Blood Cancer Day is raising the awareness about deadly cancer and other blood disorders, such as thalassemia and aplastic anaemia, which affect more than a million people in the world.
Although conventional methods like chemotherapy and radiation therapy are available, a blood stem cell transplant is the only hope for survival for many blood cancer patients.
What is blood cancer? Every 27 seconds, a devastating diagnosis of blood cancer is given to a person somewhere in the world. Malignant defects in the blood-forming system are known as blood cancer.
Our aim today is to raise awareness of the symptoms to help with early diagnosis. If you or anyone have any of the following symptoms, please contact your physician-
- Unexplained weight loss.
- Bruising or bleeding that is unexplained.
- Lumps or swellings.
- Shortness of breath.
- Drenching night sweats.
- Persistent or recurrent infections.
- Unexplained Fever.
- Rash or itchy skin.
- Pain in your bones, joints or abdomen.
- Tiredness.
- Paleness.”
