Nermean Mostafa: The Presidential initiative of cancer early detection and management for Cervix-Colon-Lung and Prostate cancers in Egypt

Nermean Mostafa, Head of Clinical Oncology unit at Ain shams University, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Now we are officially joining the global collaborative efforts to eliminate cervix cancer
The Presidential initiative of cancer early detection and management for Cervix-Colon -Lung and Prostate cancers in Egypt.

The initiative seeks to reduce cancer-related deaths by providing free screening and management for cervix Lung Prostate and Colon cancers, thus alleviating the financial burden associated with late-stage cases.

The initiative targets individuals aged 18 and above, with the aim of detecting cancer in its early stages. By doing so, we can significantly increase the chances of successful treatment and enhance the overall well-being of our citizens.

The process begins with a visit to the health unit, where individuals will fill out an electronic questionnaire. This questionnaire will help determine the specific cancer targeted for detection. Once the targeted disease is identified, individuals will be referred to hospitals for further necessary tests. In case of a negative examination, individuals will be advised on periodic follow-up. If the examination results are positive, patients will be presented to a multidisciplinary committee to determine the required treatment plan.”
