Semiramida Markosyan: Cancer isn’t just a medical battle; it’s a life battle
Semiramida Markosyan, HBSc in Genetics from the University of Toronto, posted on LinkedIn:
“I just finished watching Sami (Papacek) Mansfield’s interview with Adrian Pogacian on OncoDaily called ‘Cancer, Wellness, and Hope: Beyond the Cancer Diagnosis’ – and it completely reframed how I think about cancer care.
She reminded me of something profound: cancer isn’t just a medical battle; it’s a life battle. Patients are fighting for more than survival—they’re fighting for quality of life, dignity, and hope. Sami’s approach, which integrates lifestyle medicine like exercise, nutrition, and mental wellness into oncology care, is the holistic shift this field desperately needs.
The research backs her up: exercise during treatment can improve outcomes and reduce recurrence rates, while proper nutrition can help patients tolerate therapies better. But this isn’t just about science—it’s about compassion. It’s about treating the whole person.
Her talk left me inspired to ask: Are healthcare professionals doing enough to give patients the tools they need to live fully during and after their cancer journey? I think we can do better, and we got the roadmap we need!
If you’re in oncology—or just curious about how we can humanize medicine—I encourage you to watch this insightful interview on OncoDaily’s YouTube channel.
It’s a reminder that even in the darkest times, wellness can be a source of light.”
“As someone who loves creating content, there’s always that inner voice whispering questions: Was it enough? Did I communicate my message clearly? What could I have done better? How can this truly help?
Seeing a share like this is one of those powerful reminders of why I do this work. It reaffirms the importance of these platforms and the incredible opportunity they give us to create meaningful impact. Moments like this fuel my passion and purpose.
Thank you again to Adrian Pogacian and OncoDaily for providing this opportunity!”
