Emad Shash: Welcoming students from French International Schools in Egypt
Emad Shash, General Manager of the Breast Cancer Comprehensive Center of the NCI at Cairo University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Every year, we look forward to one of the most heartwarming traditions at the Breast Cancer Comprehensive Center, National Cancer Institute, Cairo University: welcoming students from French International Schools in Egypt during their internships to explore future career paths.
This December, from the 8th to the 12th, we had the privilege of hosting five bright and enthusiastic students from Lycée International Balzac. Watching their curiosity and excitement unfold over these five days was truly a reminder of why we do what we do.
These remarkable students stepped into the world of medicine, walking alongside our team to observe and even simulate the journey of a breast cancer patient through the lens of a healthcare provider. They gained first-hand insights into the importance of:
- Optimizing resources to ensure every patient receives the best possible care.
- Patient navigation, guiding individuals through every step of their treatment.
- Psychological support is a cornerstone of truly compassionate care.
It was incredible to see their eyes light up as they connected with the work we do—caring for patients not just medically but emotionally and holistically.
These young minds reminded us of the future we’re building: a world where healthcare is driven by empathy, innovation, and excellence. We’re grateful to have played a small part in shaping their dreams and can’t wait to see the amazing contributions they’ll make in the years to come.
Here’s to nurturing the next generation of caregivers and changemakers!”
