Wafik S. El-Deiry, Associate Dean for Oncologic Sciences at the Warren Alpert Medical School and Director of the Legorreta Cancer Center at Brown University, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“The published version of our paper that’s out as a preprint
will contain these following points thanks to David Gorski’s comments.

As far as what wasn’t done that we acknowledged, it is limited by resources and the belief that others should look at this as well.

(and I don’t appreciate the personal comments by Dr. David Gorski about my intentions as ‘willfully or just painfully naive.’ I have said in the past that such comments have no place in scientific discourse.)

I think our point about what we have learned and recognize more clearly after this study is worth taking seriously: we think it is important in the future for scientific efforts to analyze virus effects or optimize mRNA vaccines for numerous COVID variants to optimize immunogenicity while minimizing any p53 suppression.
