Michael Kupferman: Treating the 25,000th patient with radiation therapy

“Proud to share that Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Division of Radiation Oncology recently celebrated the monumental milestone of treating the 25,000th patient with radiation therapy. Since 2011, Banner MD Anderson has helped treat more than 115 different types of cancer across four facilities in Arizona and two in Colorado.

At this inspirational bell-ringing event, attendees watched as a Banner Health patient who has now beaten cancer for the third time in the last ten years got to ring the bell, signifying the end of treatment. The patient’s physician, Dr. Yerko Borghero, spoke with Telemundo about this momentous occasion.

Dr. Borghero, thank you for taking the time to explain the impact of this achievement and for highlighting this patient’s inspiring story. So grateful for the lifesaving care you and the team at Banner MD Anderson provide every day.
