Vincent Rajkumar: Updated mSMART recommendations for treatment of newly diagnosed myeloma
Vincent Rajkumar, Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, shared a post on X/Twitter:
“Just out: Updated mSMART recommendations for treatment of newly diagnosed myeloma.
Dara VRd is now a recommended frontline regimen for all transplant eligible patients. VRd is still included as a reasonable alternative for standard risk patients since we do not have data that OS is improved with Dara VRd compared to VRd induction; there are also significant problems of cost and access around the world.
No change to algorithm for transplant ineligible. DRd is preferred. VRd is a reasonable alternative.
Tandem transplant is removed from the algorithm for high risk patients. We rarely recommend or do this in practice. Del 1p added to risk stratification.
All mSMART guidelines are downloadable in both PDF and PowerPoint formats on ” mSMART.org
