Global Summit on War and Cancer 2023: Jemma Arakelyan’s speech on Introduction to The Institute of Cancer and Crisis

The 1st Global Summit on War and Cancer took place on 14 – 16 December, 2023. It was organized by the Institute of Cancer and Crisis and OncoDaily. Renowned healthcare specialists from all over the world came together to discuss cancer issues at the time of war.

We were honored to have Jemma Arakelyan, the CEO of Institute of Cancer and Crisis, as a speaker during the Summit where he introduced the Institute of Cancer and Crisis (ICC) and its role in oncology care, team and their mission and objectives.

Dr. Arakelyan shared insights on conducting cancer research in war-affected regions. She highlighted the cancer disparities present in war-torn regions at post-war states, showcasing the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno Karabagh, ending her presentation with offering resolutions on ways to address impact of war on cancer care globally.

Dr. Jemma Arakelyan is the CEO of the Institute of Cancer and Crisis (ICC), an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Hematology and Pediatric Oncology of the Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU), and a PhD program candidate at the Department of Chemistry of the City University of Hong Kong.
