“We’ve just finished the highly anticipated World Oncology Forum (WOF23), an event that brought together leading experts, scientists, clinicians, and advocates from around the globe to address the multifaceted challenges of the fight against cancer.
In comparison to 10 years ago :
– the situation has improved in the use of preventive vaccines (HPV, HEPATITIS B), in the fight against tobacco and in paediatric oncology, and a slight improvement in early diagnosis of breast cancer.
– the situation has not improved in cancer registries and the availability of pathology, oncology surgery and radio therapy (slight improvement) in developing countries.
– the situation has worsened in access to systemic treatments and in particular the availability of a trained workforce in developing countries.
