Tunji Alausa: John Oladapo Obafunwa appointed as the new Director General of the National Institute of Medical Research

Tunji Alausa shared a post on LinkedIn:

“It is my pleasure to formally present the letter of appointment to Professor John Oladapo Obafunwa as the new Director General (DG) of the National Institute of Medical Research (NIMR).

Professor Obafunwa is a distinguished pathologist with a remarkable career, including his previous roles as Provost and Vice Chancellor of LASUTH’s Medical School.

His extensive expertise in pathology, combined with his commitment to forensic science and medical advancements both in Nigeria and internationally, makes him the ideal candidate to build upon the legacy of Professor Salako, the former DG of NIMR.

Having a dedicated researcher leading one of our foremost research institutes aligns perfectly with our four-pillar agenda and the President’s vision of transforming Nigeria into a destination for medical tourism and a hub for medical and clinical research in West Africa.

The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, under the leadership of Professor Pate, the Permanent Secretary, and myself, is fully committed to supporting Professor Obafunwa as he settles into his new role and strives to elevate NIMR to new heights.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Professor Obafunwa on his appointment.”
