Wafik S. El-Deiry: The slippery slope in the potential of AI making judgements on patients’ behalf

Wafik S. El-Deiry shared a post by JAMA Internal Medicine, on X:

“I worry about the slippery slope and whether finances will factor into this in the future. Haste in judgements could be impacted by lack of clarity about what may be irreversible vs reversible. I’ve always understood statistics apply to populations, not individuals some of whom ‘beat the odds.'”

Quoting JAMA Internal Medicine‘s post:

“In this Viewpoint, the authors explore how artificial intelligence could support surrogate decision-makers while addressing some of the attendant epistemic and moral challenges.
