Key Highlights from KCRS24 by Sumanta K. Pal

Kidney Cancer Research Summit or the KCRS24 was a conference held on 11th-12th July in Boston focused on basic science research, translational research, and clinical research in kidney cancer.

Sumanta (Monty) Pal, MD, a medical oncologist and an expert in genitourinary cancers at the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles, shared his highlights from KCRS24.

City of Hope researchers at KCRS24:

So proud of star City of Hope researchers past and present: Nazli Dizman (now MD Anderson Cancer Center)Regina Barragan-Carrillo, Nick Salgia (now at Roswell Park) and Salvador Jaime-Casas who did a terrific job of representing our program!

Hats off to our junior faculty, Alex Chehrazi-Raffle and Wesley Yip for providing so many great opportunities for them, and a million thanks to Kidney CAN for offering a wonderful venue to present our results!

Rates of IO receipt in real world series

Brilliant insights from Tom Powles. Excellent use of Twitter polls to reconcile tough clinical scenarios (eg IO rechallenge following adj pembro). Shocking to hear rates of IO receipt in real world series – great point from Tom – use the best treatment first.

Side note: was running late to the meeting today and used the virtual option to watch Tom’s talk. Thanks to Kidney CAN for making it so easy to access!

What an amazing memory of Boston! Thank you Kidney CAN for an incredibly memorable experience for the City of Hope team.

I’m sure this is a night Regina Barragan-Carrillo, Nick Salgia, Salvador Jaime-Casas, Nazli Dizman, Daniela V. Castro and I won’t soon forget!
