Learn how to better meet the needs of older patients with cancer during ASCO23

Given increased life expectancy and the rapid pace at which the population of older adults in the United States is growing, the topic of cancer and aging has become a serious public health concern. To aid oncologists and other health care providers in closing this gap by implementing geriatric oncology models of care, the 2023 ASCO Annual Meeting will feature an Education Session entitled “Developing Sustainable Cancer and Aging Programs” on June 4.

“We have a responsibility in this country to meet the unique needs of older adults with cancer, and we need to do that by developing geriatric oncology programs, both large and small, across the country,” said session Presenter Andrew E. Chapman, DO, director of the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center – Jefferson Health. “This session is about getting people enticed to do that. If you’re passionate about this and interested in starting a program, we can help you.”
