Arunah Chandran: We welcomed Dr Saia Ma’u Piukala at the IARC

“We welcomed Dr Saia Ma’u Piukala, World Health Organization Regional Director for the Western Pacific at the IARC – International Agency for Research on Cancer / World Health Organization today.

Among other things, we spoke about how IARC can contribute to capacity building efforts for cancer prevention, early detection and surveillance in the region.

Partha Basu and I presented the scope of work with do with Canscreen5 and the possibility of expanding the effort to countries in WPRO. We look forward to engaging with Dr Piukala’s office and the region more closely in the near future.
