Nirmala Bhoo: I had the privilege to join forces with over 20 dynamic key cancer stakeholders in Malaysia

Nirmala Bhoo shared a post on LinkedIn:

“For three incredible days, I had the privilege to join forces with over 20 dynamic key cancer stakeholders representing various disciplines and sectors in Malaysia, including the Ministry of Health, academia, local cancer NGOs, armed forces, and the Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development.

Together, we embarked on a journey to craft a visionary 10-year roadmap towards downstaging of breast cancer in Malaysia. From brainstorming sessions to lively debates, we hashed out priority action areas and sketched specific activities across health promotion, screening, timely breast cancer diagnosis, comprehensive management, and data surveillance.

And you know what? Along the way, I found more than just colleagues – developing some real friendships that added an extra sparkle to our mission!

Also, on a personal note, I’m over the moon to report that our push for gender-sensitive workforce planning got a resounding thumbs-up! Breaking down gender-related barriers to breast and cervical cancer screening? You betcha!

A huge shoutout to Bahagian Pembangunan, Kesihatan Keluarga, Ministry of Health Malaysia, especially Dr. Shazimah Abdul Samad for orchestrating this stellar workshop!

This exercise has been an exhilarating reminder of the power of teamwork and big dreams..”
