Ina Khachatryan: Excited to share my experience of the first-ever SIOPE Summer School

“I am beyond excited to share my experience of the first-ever SIOPE Summer School on Pediatric Oncology and Hematology, which took place in Vienna, Austria.

Over 55 medical students with interests in pediatric oncology across Europe were united to learn and discover this wonderful field of medicine.

We had incredible lectures, interactive sessions and working group sessions about various pediatric solid and haematological malignancies, patient care and communication skills, modern clinical trials, clinical aspects of children, adolescents and young adults with cancer and their specific challenges, starting from diagnosis and epidemiology, through multimodal treatment and prognosis.

We discussed real-life cases, situations, and patient management and met professionals specialized in paediatric and adolescent cancer to hear their success stories.

As the only Armenian student, I feel honored and grateful to have been selected to participate in SIOPE summer school and delve deeper into the world of pediatric oncology.

For me this was more than just an educational event – it is was platform for connection, collaboration, growth and inspiration.

I am thankful to the organizers, lecturers and participants for making this the best experience for me!”
