This advanced course provided in-depth knowledge of the NIH Guidelines for research involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules, focusing on clinical studies with human gene transfer. Understanding risk assessment, regulatory requirements, and the role of Institutional Biosafety Committees (IBC) has deepened my appreciation for the rigorous processes ensuring ethical and safe research practices.

The promise of HGT, especially in somatic cells, opens new avenues in cancer research, offering hope for innovative therapies. The Human Genome Project has significantly advanced our understanding, paving the way for breakthroughs in treating complex diseases like cancer.
