A few physician and scientist colleagues (a bunch of guys) went out on San Diego bay for lunch this afternoon in Coronado. I’m taking other colleagues who can make it out in the late afternoon as well today after stopping by some more posters at the convention center.
Some of us here are from Rhode Island (Legorreta Cancer Center at Brown University) and appreciate the opportunity to see the beauty of San Diego Bay. We want the younger colleagues to know that you can enjoy your career and remember to keep a work-life balance.

New AACR President Dr. Patricia LoRusso gets right to the heart of things, “I have a feeling many of you are here because of the recent cuts to the NIH budget.” BINGO! At the same time, advocacy is used to doing amazing things with very little money so… it’s possible.
What is the role of the TME in lung cancer evolution? We are excited to share our new TRACERx paper “Spatial Architecture of Myeloid and T Cells Orchestrates Immune Evasion and Clinical Outcome in Lung Cancer” at AACR24, out in Cancer Discovery today.
So proud of and absolutely amazed by Mikala Egeblad’s closing plenary, highlighting all the incredible works in basic cancer science and translational research. My honor to be her former trainee and got to be her team with Chang Jiang, Eneda Toska and Jelani Zarif.
Timely AACR24 with the 1st approval of an agnostic ADC for HER2-positive cancers. Debate on criteria. My 2 cents: the true HER2 positive are hard to miss. It’ll be corroborated by ERBB2 gene amplification on other tests. Approval is the key to access.
My presentation at AACR24 on the different toxicities that EAO cancer patients face (physical, mental/emotional, financial, time) is aligned with Kimmie Ng’s points on the unique challenges of this population.
Great first AACR conference. I enjoyed presenting my research and had the pleasure of meeting and learning from multiple scholars in diverse areas of cancer research from all over the world. I am also thankful for AACRMICR honoring me with a Scholar in Cancer Research Award!
I had the honor of meeting a hero in the field of oncology and immunotherapy Dr. Steven Rosenberg. Dr. Rosenberg’s AACR Award for Lifetime Achievement in Cancer Research presentation was a work of art, thank you for inspiring us!

As I head home from AACR. I can’t help but reflect on how amazing it was to be a mentor for the Scientist to Survivor program. I made new friends, learned about the future of cancer research and am energized to do more!

My highlight of AACR24 was meeting in person, Orazio Vittorio- the Team Leader of Metal Targeted Therapy and Immunotherapy. You guys are doing amazing work in copper chelation therapies to reprogram the TME. We will keep working together! Safe trip to Australia my friends!
