We are thrilled to announce the 2023 KCA grant recipients! – Kidney Cancer Association (KCA)

“We are thrilled to announce the 2023 KCA grant recipients! These six talented researchers will address critical kidney cancer issues through their work and help move the needle for patients and families. Congrats!

Congratulations Maria Carlo at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, recipient of the KCA’s Trailblazer Award for work on a new understanding of RCC gene pathways.

Congratulations Rana McKay at The University of California San Diego, recipient of the KCA’s Trailblazer Award for research on the ability to predict response to immunotherapy in RCC patients.

Congratulations Prateek Khanna at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, recipient of the KCA’s Translocation RCC Focus Award, given in partnership with KCA Affiliate Partner at Joey’s Wings Foundation. Dr. Khanna will work to find treatment target proteins on translocation RCC cells.

Congratulations Shinji Ohtake at UCLA, recipient of the KCA’s Unclassified/Papillary RCC Focus Award on research to examine how the loss of a specific gene affects both papillary and unclassified types of kidney cancer.

Congratulations Niki Zacharias Millward at MD Anderson Cancer Centre, recipient of the KCA’s Chromophobe RCC Focus Award for research to identify new treatment targets in this cancer type.

Congratulations Brendan Guercio at University of Rochester, Wilmot Cancer Institute, recipient of the KCA’s Interdisciplinary RCC Focus Award for research on the relationship between gut bacteria and immunotherapy in kidney cancer.
