“After two years of participating in the American Association for Cancer Research Scientist Survivor program this year I got to mentor a group along side the amazing scientific mentor Jerry Lee! I had opportunities to speak as a part of two panels, one was over 300 high school students and future cancer researchers and the other on a topic I am truly passionate about trust in science and health disparities and clinical trials.

I also had the opportunity to tell my story to a group of researchers from Bayer Oncology about the value in partnerships with patients. If we all work together anything is possible!

The true highlight for me was mentoring my Group 4 ‘BIG DATA’ team. They were so amazing and eager to learn. I was so proud of how creative and innovative they were with putting together our final presentation. We all came from different place, with different cancers, have different passions in the field of oncology but we became true friends by the end of the meeting.

That is what AACR and this program is all about, learning from one another, supporting one another and creating lifelong friendships to be able to support one another as we navigate this thing called cancer!”
