“It was wonderful to launch the Adelaide Chapter of Australasian Women in Ancient World Studies (AWAWS) last night with Emily Chambers and Gemma Neall.

We had people from FIVE different universities at our launch, from a range of different disciplines and in various career stages. We can’t wait to see how this community grows!

The community provided by organisations like AWAWS is an essential factor in ensuring we are supported, motivated, accountable and challenged with variety. Through AWAWS I’ve met new friends, found wise mentors, and networked with people I never would have met otherwise.

The Australasian Women in Ancient World Studies (AWAWS) is a professional organisation established for all people committed to gender equality and diversity in ancient world studies, including classics, ancient history, ancient languages and archaeology.
