In Aidan’s memory- St. Baldrick’s Foundation

St. Baldrick’s Foundation shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Aiden was friendly, smart, athletic, and caring. In July 2008, he was diagnosed with stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma and the prognosis was not good. As he grappled with his diagnosis and treatment, Aiden remarked, ‘I think I know why I got sick. I got cancer to cure cancer.’

7 months into his grueling treatment, he attended the Trinity Restaurant and Bar St. Baldrick’s event and it was a moment to remember. He arrived at the event in a huge firetruck with the lights and blaring sirens. He was greeted by a crowd, and standing in the front, were his buddies, who were ready to shave in solidarity with him. After they shaved, Aiden removed his hat in public for the first time in ages so he could pose with his crew of bald friends. Seeing their bald heads helped him to feel normal again.

Sadly, Aiden passed away at the end of 2010. His memory lives on through the annual Trinity Restaurant and Bar head-shaving event and the Aiden’s Army Hero Fund. To date, the event has raised more than $3.5 million for pediatric cancer research and the Aiden’s Army Hero Fund has named five large grants in his memory. This research fuels discoveries so the next generation of kids who face rhabdomyosarcoma will have better treatment options.

Research Is Hope and you can honour Aiden’s legacy at the Trinity Bar and Restaurant event on May 4.”
