“It was an honor to chair the Early Cancer Biology Plenary Session this year at AACR annual meeting. Sharing the stage with four giants in the field in front of a full house of AACR attendees will stay in my memory for a long time. In the end, I shared my views on future opportunities in the field:

1) How our understanding of early cancer biology can inform cancer early detection and interception.

2) How future population-scale deployment of MCED tests with biological insights, such as cfDNA methylomes, assisted by AI tools, may transform our understanding of early cancer biology.

3) Understand the role of Transposable Elements in early cancer biology will provide drugable targets for interception and treatment and a rich source of biomarkers for early detection.
