DESCRIPTION:Upper GI: Technical and Clinical challenges for Radiation Oncologists by ESTRO will be held from 8-10 March\, 2025 at Lisbon\, Portugal. \nThe Upper GI: Technical and Clinical Challenges for Radiation Oncologists course focuses on addressing the evolving role of radiotherapy in the treatment of upper gastrointestinal (GI) tumors\, which are known for their unfavorable prognosis. Despite these challenges\, there is significant potential for improvement through technological innovations and a multidisciplinary approach. \nThe course provides an interactive educational environment where participants can engage in peer reviews at each stage of radiation therapy practice\, including indication\, prescription\, delineation\, planning\, IGRT\, and outcome evaluation. The course incorporates the latest state-of-the-art technologies and knowledge while considering the perspectives of clinicians\, physicists\, and radiation therapy technologists (RTTs). \nSpecialists from various disciplines will guide participants in understanding the clinical\, anatomic\, and pathological aspects of upper GI tumors\, as well as the therapeutic advancements required for optimal radiation oncology practice. By the end of the course\, participants will be equipped to appropriately indicate radiation therapy\, prescribe treatments\, tailor delineation based on tumor location and stage\, optimize dose distribution\, utilize IGRT technologies effectively\, and monitor tumor response and control.
