“Lead Researcher of NIH Clinical Trial for Transformative Esophageal Cancer Care:
I am thrilled to announce my role as the lead researcher for an NIH-approved clinical trial addressing the challenges faced by cancer patients with dysphasia and esophageal strictures.
This achievement builds on the success of our preliminary pilot findings presented during the collaborative summit between globally well-renowned institutions the University of Texas (UT) Austin and MD Anderson Cancer Center Houston.
Guided by the expertise and vision of our internationally recognized and distinguished Principal Investigator, Associate Professor Dr. David M Richards MD, this initiative represents a transformative step in redefining care for these patients.
Leveraging endoluminal functional lumen imaging probe (EndoFLIP), an advanced diagnostic and therapeutic tool, our study aims to improve clinical outcomes while tackling systemic issues such as prolonged hospital stays, frequent readmissions, and the economic burdens associated with managing these conditions.
Esophageal cancer ranks as the seventh most common cancer and the sixth leading cause of cancer death worldwide.
Dysphagia and esophageal strictures, common complications of esophageal cancer treatment, significantly impact patient quality of life and strains healthcare resources.
Our clinical trial seeks to develop innovative, patient- centered solutions to these challenges, with EndoFLIP’s superior diagnostic sensitivity and therapeutic potential offering new possibilities for reducing repeated conventional interventions.
Supported by the collaboration between nationwide top-notch ranking number.1 hospital for cancer care MD Anderson Cancer Center Houston and UT Austin, this project highlights the power of interdisciplinary teamwork and shared commitment to advancing oncology and gastroenterology care.
I am honored to contribute frontline to this meaningful work and look forward to sharing our progress to the scientific community by providing sustainable and impactful outcomes for patients and healthcare systems.”
